Entrepreneurs Can Learn Much From Nature

I decided to take a few days off last week and journey up into the mountains. It was a wonderful two days I spent alone with my wife in the wilderness.

We went camping in a tent we were quite deep in the wilderness. It was so quiet and peaceful that when a bird flew overhead you could actually hear the air moving underneath his wings. Now that’s quiet.

When the wind blew you can hear the rustling of the pine trees. The scent of pine was everywhere. The air was crisp and clean. In fact for a little while I was overloading on oxygen. My lungs were wondering where’s the smog I was used to.

In the forest I saw some elk. Now elk are really skittish creatures. I would be too if I was prey, wouldn’t you?

As I observed the elk they were very relaxed while grazing until there was a noise or a different smell was in the air. When something in their environment changed they went on high alert…

The moment the elk realized it was nothing to be concerned about they went back to eating as if nothing ever happened.

Then all of sudden elk heard a vehicle coming off in the distance. It was someone on a quad runner. The elk went on high alert and when the quad runner came a little closer the elk took off running.

Now the interesting part was, the elk didn’t go far at all. They just went far enough to avoid danger and stopped. Checked out their situation and when all was clear again, they went back to eating.

We can certainly learn from the elk’s behavior. Unfortunately most people hang onto the fear and never let it go. They wear fear like a jacket they use to keep warm. It’s familiar and it feels comfortable. The problem is when you live in fear and never let it go, you will never become rich.

That’s right. Fear stops you from becoming rich!

Rich people have learned to emulate the animals when it comes to fear. They have learned that most fear is not real and unwarranted. It’s good to check it out but not to wallow in fear

The elk have done exactly that. If they wallowed in fear like humans do they probably would never eat and starve to death. Fortunately nature has provided the animals with intelligence that we could use.

When we let go of the fear we are able to do incredible things in our lives. When we let fear control us our lives are less than spectacular. Most likely we are broke and unhappy.

So how can we learn from the animals?

Simple!
