How Food Poisoning Can Destroy Your Business

Thank God I’m alive! For a while there I wasn’t sure I was going to make it.

The last week, I was given a vacation from everything in life which I didn’t care for. The challenge I had literally stopped me from doing everything.

I couldn’t even move it was so painful. I was curled up in this little ball in the fetal position and that’s about all I could do. Even laying on the wrong side was extremely painful!

There was even a point I thought I might be going to the hospital because this was so severe. This was scary to say the least. You see I’m allergic to pain and hospitals.

So what was the problem?

Food poisoning!

food_poisoning.jpg Food poisoning is something very serious that you may have to deal with sometime in your life so you should be prepared. I wasn’t prepared for this at all and it wiped me out for a week.

The really bad part about all this is the only thing I had in mind was to get rid of the pain. I didn’t even think about eating for several days. Luckily my wife Tamar was there to help me otherwise I probably would have dehydrated and then I would have had some serious trouble, like food poisoning wasn’t bad enough.

Oh yes, it can be much worse…

Even drinking was painful. I was never sure if anything I drank would stay down.

This is some serious stuff I’m talking about here. The biggest challenge with food poisoning is dehydration. You don’t feel like drinking anything because everything feels miserable and that’s dangerous considering that by definition of having food poisoning the body has been emptied of a lot of fluids to alarming levels.

I truly hope you never have to go through this.

The good news is I’m doing better now and I learned a few things that I’m going to share with you…

First my Chiropractor shared something with me that I wish I knew before I got food poisoning. Since I didn’t, I figured I’d do the next best thing and help you in case this ever happens to you or someone you know. It’s better to be prepared than be caught off guard like I did.

What he said was this — a chiropractic adjustment would have helped flush out the toxins even quicker.

This makes sense to me because when everything is in optimal alignment things are naturally going to work better. It’s like driving your car down the road with your wheels in alignment. The ride is smooth and straight. However if you’re wheels are misaligned you’ll be fighting the pull the entire ride not to mention the tire wear.

Does that make sense to you?

OK good! I thought it might.

charcoal_tables.jpg Then he mentioned something else which I never would have thought about. And that’s using charcoal tables which you can pick up from places like Hi-Health or other health food stores. The charcoal tablets will absorb the toxins out of your body.

Charcoal is actually used in lots of applications to get rid of toxins such as water filtration.

That too made sense to me also.

Now the last thing I’m going to suggest was something I discovered along the way. This will really help you because it was the only thing that seemed to help and I was able to keep down during the first few days after the food poisoning started. You might not guess what it was…

It was Ginger Ale and Jello!

ginger_ale.jpgjello.jpg Mmmm. The meal of champions. Well not really.

This was definitely a saving grace. I couldn’t keep water down and crackers weren’t making me feel good either. But the ginger in Ginger Ale has a soothing effect on the stomach which allowed me to a least stay hydrated. On the third day I graduated to Jello which is mostly water and sugar so I could regain hydration and fuel my body.

I really didn’t like this diet to say the least but at least it kept me alive.

Another important thing I learned will also help you in your business.

Now I know what you’re thinking… what possibly could I have learned while fighting food poisoning that could help your business?

I know it seems a bit of stretch doesn’t it?

But here’s the deal…

What I learned is that you must have a good team in place so if you ever get sick where it takes you down you don’t go out of business because everything revolves around you.

During the time I was down my wife Tamar who’s part of my success team was very helpful not only in helping me recover but also to keep things running in the business that required attention. I also had other people on my team that were equally important and as far as all my clients are concerned it was like I never missed a beat.

That’s why having a good team is so important in your business.

Let me tell you, if it weren’t for my team there are a lot of things that wouldn’t have been done and it would have taken me a lot more than a week to recover because I wasn’t available.

That’s something for you to think about.

By having a strong team in place the business will still run without you so in the event something like this would happen to you, your financial life doesn’t come to a grinding halt.

Is this making sense?

So if you don’t have a team to help you out, now’s the time to start thinking about how you will develop a team to help you through these kinds of troubled times. And trust me something will happen. It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of what and when.

Welcome to the human family.

It’s time to be prepared for these times and also it’s a good idea to have a team to help because that’s how you’ll grow your business. I’ll talk more about that another time.

Please share what you’ve learned by leaving a comment.  If you have other advice to share about food poisoning that could help others please do so.  When you leave a comment it helps everyone including you.  So go ahead and leave a comment below or by clicking on the title and go to the end of the article.  You’ll be glad you did.

I’ve got to run for now so until next time…

To Your Success,

PS:   If you ever get food poisoning make sure you have Ginger Ale, Jello, and Charcoal tablets readily available.  Also get a chiropractic adjustment so that your body can flush the poisons out quickly.  And lastly make sure you have your team well prepared so if something takes you out of the game for a little bit that your business doesn’t suffer or worse yet collapses because it’s all based on you being there.

Also, one suggestion that worked for me when I had food poisoning, recommended by a medical doctor and supposedly in a study at U of Wisconsin, was coca-cola (original formula, not-diet or other) and pepto-bismal. Just sipped the cola and a small amount of pepto several times during the day after really helped a lot.

About biz, I was really sick once and almost had to have an unexpected operation that would have kept me from work for 8-weeks - that’s when having a team that was in place and could keep things going became a top priority - also made work much more rewarding and less stressful.

Hi Andy,
Sorry for your pain, but glad for the message about having a strong team.
Just to add to your food poisoning arsenal, I can add the homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica, which is specific for poisoning from various sources - if you get this remedy get it in more than one potency because sometimes even if you have the right remedy if the potency is wrong the benefit is minimal. Clays such as bentonite will also absorb the toxins. Food grade diatomaceous earth is great. There used to be a product called Aerobic 7 that was great to protect digestion from faulty water and food; a friend of mine used it extensively traveling in China and it made all the difference for him. The last time I had food poisoning, however, the most effective thing I found was an energetic technic called Pranic Healing, which I used to withdraw the toxic energy from my digestive tract, and my well-being followed quickly. Even a very sick person can do this on themselves. Caution about Pranic Healing: Even though I would recommend it for a person to do on themselves I would never do it on another person despite the fact that it is taught to people so that they do work on others. It’s just too easy to take on negative energy and then you’re stuck with it even if it didn’t originate with you (I used to teach it so I really do know this point). I do think it’s helpful for self-correcting efforts however. Hope this helps. Love to you, Holland
