Do you believe the government will do a better job of taking care of you than you can?

It’s amazing to me how many people believe that the government will do a better job at taking care of us then we could.  That’s exactly what happened though during this election in the United States.

I’ve heard so many people talking about getting better health care in this country just like the government employees get.

If you believe this, I hope your sitting down…

You aren’t going to get the same health care system the government does.  What you will get is higher taxes and lower quality of service.  Don’t believe me?  Let’s look at our Canadian friends.

Canada has a national health care system.  And sure, the government there takes care of you that’s if you don’t die before you get treatment.

Many Canadians come to the United States and pay with hard earned after tax dollars to get medical treatment.

Why in the world would anyone pay to get medical treatment in another country if his or her health care system is so great and it’s FREE?

Simple!

Their health care system obviously isn’t all what’s it cracked up to be.  The reality is, the health care system is poorly run because the government runs it.  Do you remember the last time a government program that actually made money or was run efficiently?

I don’t.

The last I recall, the government keeps asking for more money in taxes to pay for all these great run services because they ran out of money.

Now let me ask you something.  Do you think if your business ran out of money because of mismanagement you could go to the government and ask them for a tax raise so you can stay in business?

They would tell you to go take a hike!

Then why do so many people insist that the government who has no incentive to manage your money well, run a private sector business called health care?

It’s because they’re just like the pigs in the last Wealth Builders Blog article.

They expect something for free continually and before you know it, they’re trapped and have nowhere to go.  Then they’re stuck with the system.

I have relatives who live in Germany.  They have a national health care system and all I ever hear from my relatives is how poor the service is and how much more they have to pay each year.  I also heard about the numerous operations that occurred far too late because the doctors were milking the system instead of taking care of the patients.

And worst of all, God help you if you’re old.  In some cases the people were deemed too old to have surgery and therefore the only alternative they had was hospice care!  This means they chalked you up for dead because you’re too expensive to work on.

You see, in socialized medical care systems, the doctors get paid no matter if they do a good job or bad job.

What’s the incentive to get you healthy then?

There is none.

Do you want this kind of doctor working on you or your family?

I don’t think so.  That’s the same reason our Canadian friends migrate south to get quality health care.  But, that’s not going to last long if our new congress implements socialized health care.

You can also expect your tax rate to go up significantly as well.  Why?

Someone has to pay for it.  Programs don’t just run on their own without money. If you were a doctor would you work for free because we have a national health care system?

No way!

So, what is the solution here?

It’s all about learning to take responsibility for you own life.  It’s taking responsibility for everything in your life and quit expecting everyone else to fix it for you.

I know this is a big pill to swallow for sure.  Years ago I had to swallow it too, because I didn’t understand all this either, until I got educated.

Remember: the founding fathers of the United States all took responsibility for everything.  They even laid down their lives.  They fought because they didn’t want to be controlled by the British and pay taxes without representation.  And back then there was no free health care either.

That should be something to think about.

The founding fathers are good role models to follow.  If you used the same kind of thinking, what could you accomplish?

Think about it, the United States was short on troops, arms, food, clothing, training, etc but yet they won victoriously.  These people chose to be victorious and not victims.

The choice is yours.  What do you choose?
