How Successful Entrepreneurs Change Their Lives
There is a great story I came across in today’s newspaper which I wanted to share with all of you.
This story really hit home. I agree with this story whole-heartedly because I know the affects that television, video games, and the Internet can have on us. In fact we should all limit our exposure to the Internet and television.
Don’t get me wrong. There are good uses for the television and the Internet. We just have to be discerning about our use.
The negative programming we revceive from various sources is having serious effects on everyone especially kids because they are very impressionable. When they receive negative messages such as nudity and violence at early ages it affects their lives in negative ways. It makes them emotionally numb and lowers their self-esteem.
Kids have a tough time with self-esteem to begin with but when they compare themsevleves to the characters on television it makes things even worse. Let me explain…
Girls compare themselves to very slim models at an early age. They think that’s the way they should look. Because of this programming they feel they should be on a diet and not eat much. This is destructive when their bodies are still developing. To make matters worse when they realize they don’t look like models they can become depressed.
Boys have challenges too. They are being measured by how tough they are or how strong they are. Boys are told that real men don’t cry and when they’re injured they are just supposed to suck it up. This is not healthy thinking.
Boys are also more attracted to violent video games. The game in a child’s mind is real. The games literally skew reality for them. If kids are watching viloent cartoons or playing violent video games this becomes their reality. They think this is real. I don’t know about you but this should be a wake up call.
All the messages kids receive during childhood have impacts on their adult life good or bad. The challenge these days is that the negative messages far outweigh the positive messages.
When we have a healthy dose of positive in our lives we tend to feel better about the world and ourselves. Conversely, when we receive negative programming we become upset, angry, and possibly even depressed.
Kids are especialy prone to having challenges with this. Their minds have not fully developed yet to discern what is good and bad for them. They have not developed to a point where they can make that judgement and eliminate the messages that will adversely affect them later in life.
It is important for all of us to pay attention to the messages we take in. When we do this, our lives improve tremendously. When I read or listen to positive material I feel so much better. When I watch the evening news which is very rare these days, it’s depressing.
You become what you think about most. Therefore if you are exposed to negative messages you become negative. Conversely, if you expose yourself to positive messages you become positive.
Bottom line: No one likes negative people. Your life will be really tough because nobody wants to be around you if you are negative. On the other hand if you are positive everyone wants to be around you.
When you are surrounded by positive your entire life improves. You home life, business life, and social life all improve. Positive people make more money and live happier lives.
I know from my own personal experience that feeding myself with positive messages and eliminating the negative ones has made a tremendous difference in my life. My level of success and happiness have improved tremendously.
Why wouldn’t you want the same for yourself or your kids?
I’m glad to see this article and I hope you are all paying close attention…
Your success depends on it!
