Quit Procrastinating in 2007Entrepreneurs Quit Procrastinating in 2007

It’s great to be back from vacation. I was gone for a couple of weeks recharging my batteries and I feel rejuvenated and energized and ready to go. I’ll tell you more about that later. It was an exciting trip.

It’s time to get moving forward. This is a New Year and it’s time to Take Control of Your Destiny and claim your success.

I came across an article which was both interesting and disturbing all at the same time. The article talks about the increased problem with procrastination.

I knew procrastination was a big problem, I just never realized how big it was.

Procrastination is the biggest killer as an Entrepreneur. In order to succeed as an Entrepreneur you must learn how to eliminate procrastination.

Sounds easy doesn’t it?

But I know what you are thinking. I’ve tried that and it’s not that easy.

Let me share a little secret with you…

If you believe that it is hard to stop procrastinating, then you’re right. Let me explain.

Your mind must prove you right. So if you believe it is easy to stop procrastinating, you’re right. If you think it is hard to stop procrastinating, you’re right. Either way, your mind will prove you right.

So, doesn’t it make sense to adopt a new belief to make it easy to stop procrastinating?

Of course it does. So Make the Decision Now that it is easy to stop procrastinating. That’s the first step.

Once you have made the decision you must have some tools to keep you focused.

So you may be wondering how do I stop procrastinating and get focused.

Good question.

Let’s start by getting rid of all distractions in your work area. Let’s go through some distractions that are real killers to Entrepreneurs and other solutions to improve your focus.

1) Close down your email program when you are not using it. This is a huge time waister. Instead schedule time to check and reply to email. I check and reply only during certain times of the day. I found this to be a big help.

2) Close down your IM window. This is actually worse than email. You can get distracted and waste hours every single day just chatting back and forth. Instead, set up a focused meeting with the person that wishes to communicate with you.

3) When you are working on a project, turn off the phone. Use voice mail to handle your calls. That’s what it was invented for. Instead schedule time in your day to return phone calls. This will keep you focused on your projects.

4) Do the hardest tasks first thing in your day instead of doing the easy things. The first part of your day is usually the most productive. Do the things that are hard and use the easy tasks as fillers between appointments etc.

5) If you haven’t figured it out yet, schedule your tasks as if they were an appointment.

By doing the things I have outlined you will be putting many hours back into your days and weeks. This will give you focus necessary to move forward.

So Make the Commitment today to use the tools to help you stop procrastinating and get focused.

Remember you success depends on your level of commitment and focus.
