One of the things I’ve noticed this week is that a lot of people are looking for a quick fix to their business because business hasn’t been so good.
The bad news is the place where people are looking to fix their business is all wrong. Everyone I’ve talked to was looking at fixing the building instead of working on the foundation of their business and that’s why they’re having problems.
This is actually a common mistake most Entrepreneurs make when building their business. Let me give you an example so you can better understand what’s going on here…
Let’s start off with a few definitions so we’re on the same page.
Your business is like a skyscraper. It has two parts. The structure itself and the foundation below the structure which supports everything.
The skyscraper or building is your actual business i.e. Retail Shop, Network Marketing opportunity, Internet Marketing, Real Estate, Stock Trading, Lawyer, etc. This accounts for only 10% of the entire business. This is what you do day in and day out to earn money.
The foundation, which is the second component and the most critical component, is your mindset. This is how you think and how you think dictates everything you do and how you do it.
I really like the way Zig Ziglar puts it. If your thinking is sticking so are your results!
Now your foundation is the basis of everything you do and has much more to do that your actual business. Your mindset accounts for 90% of the entire business.
Are you with me so far?
Good. Stay with me now…
If you’re foundation is weak you can only build your skyscraper so big before the foundation gives way and the building starts falling apart or literally collapses. This is what most Entrepreneurial business owners are experiencing at the moment.
No matter what you do to repair the building if you have a weak foundation it’s not going to work. It’s like using chewing gum and duct tape to fix your problem. Although I know for some of you, duct tape is the handyman’s secret weapon. But it won’t work here. So forget that idea.
When the economy is good you can succeed without much of a foundation. However when the economy is in a recession like it is here in the United States you must have a solid foundation in order to succeed or you get wiped out.
What should you be doing instead?
Read on…
There are four essential elements to having a strong foundation. If you are missing any one of these elements are have done this in the incorrect order you’ve set yourself up for failure. Let’s go through each element and discover why this is the case…
The first element is your mindset. This is the way think about everything. If you’re negative you’ll get negative results. If you’re positive then you’ll get positive results. Pretty straight forward so far but just because you’re thinking positive doesn’t mean you’ll succeed and earn more money!
Mindset goes beyond positive thinking. It is the programming you have inside your mind that runs every function of your being. Everything you do including earning money is a program.
And if you have a program that says I don’t deserve to earn more money, you won’t get more money. You’ll do everything in your power to self sabotage yourself so you don’t earn more money.
To find out if you have this going on, look at your income. Does it go up and down like a roller coaster? Is there a level you just can’t break through no matter how hard you work?
If this is the case you’re mindset is stopping you from getting what you want.
Let’s look at the second element. The second element is you must be living life on purpose. That means the business you’re in must express your purpose in life. Now if you don’t know what you’re Purpose in Life is you’ve got a challenge.
I failed at three different businesses because of this one. I didn’t know what my Purpose in Life was and thus I went into a business I thought I could make money at. Ultimately I failed at each business until I discovered my Purpose in Life.
After I discovered my Purpose in Life I quickly became a millionaire. In fact I had a client who didn’t know his purpose in life that was failing miserably while everyone around him succeeded. When he finally figured out his Purpose in Life he realized he was in the wrong business which brings me to element number three…
The third element is you must be in the right business.
This is a business that you and you alone can succeed at while everyone else around you will fail at it. When you have a business that expresses your Purpose in Life then it’s as if you cannot fail!
But if you’re in the wrong business you’re going to suffer.
And the last element is you must have the business basics which are all part of your foundation in order to succeed. The one basic that really sticks out is being able to sell. The bottom line is if you don’t know how to sell or worse yet you don’t like selling there’s no business period.
And not liking sales is just mindset again. There is actually a system I teach in the Win The Sales Game Entrepreneur Training Seiminar that is stress free, simple and easy. After you learn the system selling will never be the same again. You’ll actually enjoy it!
There are many others as well but I don’t have time to get into it here. As you can clearly see there are some essential elements here in order for you to succeed and that’s why the foundation is 90% of your overall business.
Are you starting to understand why it’s so important to focus on your foundation and less so on your actually business?
I’m glad you realize this is the case.
And that’s one of the things I have been focusing on quite a bit lately through a Secret Study I’ve done. In this Secret Study I put together a way for you to build that foundation strong, wide, and deep so that you can put any size structure you want on top of it. Right now it’s still in the Beta stage but will soon be released.
By having that strong foundation, you’ll literally be able to take the lid off your income and earn the money you want.
Check out what I’ve discovered in the secret study and judge for yourself.
The question I have for you is, how tall is your building and how tall you do want to build it?
If you’re like me, you’ll want you building as tall as you can get it. But that’s going to take some changes in the foundation in order to get there. Use the four elements and dig deeper. Build your foundation strong so you can build a bigger building.
Write a Comment and let me know what you’ve learned. I’m sure others will appreciate it as well. The more you apply yourself and by the way when you Write a Comment Now you’ll be doing that, you’ll cement your new learnings in at the cellular level and that’s where it counts.
To Your Success,

Andy Fuehl
